Instructions


1. Decide on a budget and stick to it. You won't enjoy your own party if you are worried about paying for it. Then choose your party's location, and draw up a guest list.


2. Send Hawaiian-themed invitations to guests, and make clear what kind of event you are hosting. Invitations with images of palm tree, tropical flowers, coconuts or pineapples help set the mood.


3. Encourage guests to dress in Hawaiian attire so everyone feels festive. Guests can wear tropical shirts, grass skirts or even bathing suits if the party will be poolside.


4. Decorate the party area with fresh flowers and tiki torches.


5. Greet each guest with a warm "Aloha" and lei necklace as he or she arrives. A lei is a garland of flowers, The custom was introduced to Hawaii by early Polynesian voyagers.


6. Serve guests food and drink typical of the islands. The menu might include roasted pork, fresh vegetable and fruit salads, and frozen drinks served inside hollowed-out coconuts and pineapples.


7. Play island music featuring ukuleles or steel drums. Encourage guests to try hula dancing.
