With the warmth of the summer air and colorfulness of the outdoor environment, little preparation has to be done to host a BBQ. Fire up the grill, bring on the beer and tune into some fiesta, jazz or country music to create the perfect atmosphere for your next BBQ. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Send out invitations for your BBQ in plenty of time for guests to mark their calendars. Be sure to include information regarding time, place, directions and possible requests for food and drinks you might have.
2. Decide on the menu items to serve at your BBQ. Some traditional dishes include hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken. However, the possibilities are endless, and any meat would do well with the right seasoning. Purchase enough food for each guest to be able to consume one and a half pounds.
3. Purchase tablecloths, paper plates, napkins, plasticware and plastic cups in large quantities. These items never expire and will be in high demand during your BBQ.
4. Make arrangements for moving the BBQ to a covered location in the garage, under a canopy or in a party tent in case it rains.
5. Set up outdoor games for all age groups to enjoy. Horseshoes, washers and croquet are good examples for adults. Entertain kids with a sack race, egg toss or tug-of-war.
6. Provide shading with umbrellas and plenty of folding chairs for earlier afternoon BBQs so guests won't get too hot. As the BBQ continues into the evening, have citronella candles and torches on hand to keep pests at a distance. Create mood lighting with white Christmas lights strung overhead and along deck or balcony rails.
7. Prepare any side dishes or desserts, cut vegetables, and marinate meat the day before the BBQ.
8. Have plenty of cold non-alcoholic beverages on hand in addition to any spirited drinks you may be serving.
9. Provide music with an outdoor stereo or simply face your indoor speakers towards an open window.
10. Sit back, relax and enjoy being the host of a well planned, successful BBQ.
