Make A Fox And Geese Game Board

Fox and Geese is a board game that uses marbles. The play is like a one-sided checker game, the fox can jump the geese but the geese can only take defensive measures and block the fox. When the fox jumps the geese they are out of the game. The geese can corner the fox and leave it without moves. To make a board just follow the easy steps below.

Instructions

1. Find a 1/2-inch piece of plywood. You will need to make certain that it is 12 inches square.

2. Drill 1/2-inch holes in the plywood. The holes should form a cross with three rows across and three rows up and down. Start in the middle 1 1/2- inch from the bottom. Drill the first hole right in the center edge. Drill one hole on each side that is 1 1/2 inches from the center hole. Drill six holes down that are spaced 1 1/2 inch apart.

3. Sand around the holes to make the board smooth and to eliminate splintering.

4. Paint a thin coat of varnish on the board and allow it to dry. You can use colored paint if you prefer.

5. Secure a large distinctive marble for the fox.

6. Find between 13 and 17 like marbles for the geese. The game can be played with a varying number of geese.
