The robot dance is a style of breakdancing.
The robot dance is a style of breakdancing that grew in popularity after Michael Jackson performed it on TV in 1974. The idea is to move the way a robot would, particularly a robot that moves in slow motion, using jerky movements. Dance moves should always be done with a straight back and with the limbs moving one after the other. There is no set order in which the robot should be performed. Follow the movements and make quick 'dime stop' movements when the music pauses as if waiting for the music to begin again. The robot is usually performed to funk, soul or hip hop music. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Start moving your arms in short, choppy movements. Hold your arms at 90 degree angles and don't hold them at the same level. Move as if you are power walking in short, choppy, slow motion.
2. Stop moving your arms and cock your head to one side in a quick, jerky motion.
3. Turn your head to the left when you move your right arm and to the right when you move your left arm.
4. Pivot from the waist in choppy movements without moving your legs.
5. Bend at the waist, keeping your back straight and your arms bent, using a jerky motion. Bend at a slight angle so you are moving over one leg. Stop part way, bend a little farther and then return in the same manner.
6. Move your leg by bending the knee and raising it straight up. Reposition the leg by stepping to the right or left and follow with the other leg. Basic robot moves do not include a lot of leg movement.
