When a garage door no longer opens and closes properly using your garage door opener, some troubleshooting tips can sometimes solve the problem. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. If the door doesn't open, confirm that the opener has power by plugging a lamp into the outlet. If the lamp doesn't light, check your breakers or fuse box.
2. Remove any obstructions, such as ice or snow, that might be preventing the door from opening.
3. Check if the garage door spring needs replacing.
4. Wait 15 minutes and try again to open the door as repeated attempts can activate the overload protector to disable the door.
5. Check all wire connections on the door control.
6. Disable the garage door lock if it is engaged. Press and hold the "Lock" button for two seconds. The push button light will stop flashing, indicating that the lock feature is disabled.
7. Adjust the force controls if necessary to keep the door opening and closing smoothly. Increase down force by turning the control clockwise, or increase up force by turning it counterclockwise. Make adjustments slowly as the maximum force range is only three-quarters of a complete turn, and forcing the control further can cause damage.
8. Make sure the remote is properly programmed for your garage door opener. Press the "Learn" button on your motor unit. Within 30 seconds, push the large button on your remote. Release the button when the lights on the motor unit blink, indicating that it has learned the code.
