Get Rid Of Black Lines On The Side Of A Flash Movie

To get rid of black lines on the sides of a Flash movie, chances are you need to resize the dimensions of your stage. When your movie screen dimensions are slightly smaller than the stage, you see black lines on either side of the movie. To resize the dimension of a Flash movie in the FLA file, use the Adobe Flash design application. However, black lines may also appear when the dimensions of the embedded Flash movie in the HTML code are slightly larger than the Flash movie size. In this case, edit the HTML file to resize the embedded object area.


Instructions


Resize Stage in FLA File Using Adobe Flash


1. Open the FLA file that contains the Flash movie in Adobe Flash.


2. Click the "Modify" option on the top navigation bar, then click the "Document" option.


3. Click the "Match Contents" option in the Stage Size" section. The stage sizes to the same size as the largest content layer.


4. Click the "File" option, then click "Save" to resave the FLA file.


Resize Embedded Flash Movie in HTML Code


5. Right-click on the HTML page that contains the embedded Flash -- SWF or FLV -- video code. Click the "Open With" option from the context menu, then click "Notepad" or use your favorite HTML editor. The HTML code file opens.


6. Locate the embedded code block for the Flash movie in the HTML code.


7. Type a lesser value in the "Width=" dimension statement in the embedded Flash code block, then resave the HTML page.
