A detached garage can be a great location for a party hall-it's set back from the house itself, which can limit the noise from the festivities. Keeping a party confined to the garage can also simplify and reduce clean-up. A few simple purchases and some household items can transform nearly any garage into a party space. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
Creating the Party Hall
1. Clear the garage of any junk, clutter, machines and unnecessary furniture. The more open the space to start, the better. Leave furniture that can be utilized. Make sure you have plenty of tables and chairs. Another party staple is a place for games--such as a long table for beer-pong or flip-cup to be played.
2. Set up a music system for the room. Wiring speakers for surround sound will add a professional feel to the room. Test out the volume to find a level that will keep your party pumping but won't disturb your neighbors.
3. Decide what your lighting scheme will be. The right lighting can transform a dingy garage to a happening party room. Use old Christmas lights, strung around the borders of the room. Purchase different-colored light bulbs for the ceiling and lamps to set the party mood. Lanterns can also be a creative touch.
4. Hang decorations such as a disco ball, beads and flowers. Grass skirts hung around the edges of tables can create a tiki- or beach-themed look. Set up a television for a sports-bar themed look or for movie showings. The more details you add, the less the room will look like a garage and the more it will look like a party location.
5. Add a few coats of paint to the walls to spruce up the interior and make it feel like a hall rather than a place intended for housing cars. Use bright colors to make the room pop and accentuate your lighting.
