Make your next cookout an experience with the theme.
Cookouts provide a relaxing way to get together with family and friends. The food is the main event at a cookout; hamburgers and hot dogs, kabobs and fresh grilled veggies are standard fare. Decorate your outdoor space around a theme to further the party atmosphere; luaus or Christmas in July kick things up a notch, or you can just go with a basic country barbecue theme. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Set the table with a red and white checked tablecloth to create a western barbecue theme. Place white pillar candles in small metal buckets down the middle of the table. Red, white or blue plates look very patriotic on the table, as well. Fill a basket with plenty of large napkins for cleaning up messy barbecue from hands and faces. Hang white twinkle lights in the surrounding trees. Hang white paper lanterns over the table and grill, as well.
2. Line your outdoor space with tiki torches to decorate for a luau theme. Inflate the fake palm trees and brightly colored birds and hang them from the trees. Hang grass skirting from all the tables and place coconuts on top for decoration. Cut a few coconuts in half and place them in the middle of the table; secure them by putting a piece of two-sided tape on the bottom. Place small votive or short pillar candles in the coconuts.
3. Set up an artificial Christmas tree outside to help celebrate Christmas in July. Decorate the tree as you normally would for Christmas, or go with a beach-y theme by stringing sea shells and seaweed on it. Sprinkle artificial snow on the tables, or set up a small sandbox filled with the snow; kids as well as adults will enjoy playing in it. Set out your angel collection, snowman collection or any Santas that you may have. Be sure to inflate any yard decorations you have.
