Printing invitations at home are more affordable than traditional printers
The precursor to almost every wedding is the invitations. Choosing special paper, designs and the printer can take a lot of time and a large chunk of money out of a wedding budget. Nowadays, couples can print invitations at home, saving more for the actual event. The Internet offers many companies selling plain and decorative invitations in a variety of colors and designs. Picking them out is fun, while printing them at home is the easy part.

Preparation
1. Find an online vendor who sells blank wedding invitations. Most companies will list if you can print on the invitations with a laser or ink jet printer. Some papers include a coating that will cause the ink to smudge if you print using a typical home printer. Find the invitation for your special day and order them for delivery through the mail.
2. Measure the invitation when it arrives in the mail.
3. Create a new file once Microsoft Word loads on the computer. Open Page Setup, choose custom size and enter the measurements of the invitation. For example, an invitation might be 6 1/2 inches in height and 4 1/2 inches in width. Adjust the margins as well. When you've adjusted the page size and margins, hit "Enter," and the page on your screen will appear the same size as the invitation.
4. Type the names of the engaged couple, date of the event and wedding information you would like to include on the invitation. Highlight the lettering and change the font to suit your taste. You can change the size of the font at the same time. Many websites dedicated to planning a wedding have tools to help with wording on the invitation (see Resources).
Printing
5. Check your printer to find out where to insert the invitations. Some printers require you to insert the invitation through the back or the front manual feed tray. Cut out a few test sheets of plain paper, the same size as the invitation and place in the printer. This will keep you from wasting invitations. Move the paper holder over to keep the paper from going through the printer at an angle.
6. Select print on the computer. Choose the size of paper before printing, under custom size. Make sure the invitations print correctly.
7. Proceed with printing the rest of the invitations, if the invitation looks straight and meets expectations.
