Make A Baby Shower Invitation

Party hosts can create unique invitations in just a few steps.

Baby showers offer friends and family members the opportunity to come together and share in the joy of an impending or recent birth. The baby shower invitation provides recipients with all the necessary information about the celebratory event, and it also allows the host to express her own creativity. Invitations can be purchased at a store, custom printed or made at home by hand to add a personal touch to each invitation. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Trace the shape of a baby item, such as a bottle, stroller or footprint, onto a sturdy piece of cardstock or bristol board. The shape you choose should be approximately 6 inches by 8 inches. You can make each invitation from the same color card stock, or use a variety of colors for an even livelier appearance.

2. Cut out the shape and use this template to draw the remainder of the invitations onto the card stock or bristol board.

3. Use a calligraphy pen to write the information about the baby shower. Be sure to include the guest of honor's name, the date and address, and a phone number to which they can respond.

4. Use small scrap-booking decals to decorate the card. Use the decals to create a scene, such as a baby in a carriage surrounded by gifts. An artistic host may want to add a personalized touch with baby-related sketches on the cards as well.

5. For invitations that will be sent out in the mail, place the card in an oversized envelope.

6. For invitations that can be hand-delivered, roll a baby washcloth around a fabric marker and a memo paper. On the paper, include a small note asking guests to write a message of well-wishing and to sign their name on the baby washcloth and bring it to the shower for a memorable keepsake for the new mother.

7. Roll up the completed invitation card like a scroll around the marker and washcloth, and tie a ribbon around the middle of the scroll to make a bow.

8. Place the scroll inside a baby bottle, secure the bottle lid, and tie another ribbon around the bottle.
