Make A Lifesized Cutout

Make a Life-Sized Cutout

Making life-sized cutouts is fun, especially for children. It is easy to make the cutout, and children can color or decorate it as they wish. Cutouts can also be printed on paper from your home computer if you do not want to draw one of your own. You can choose a picture of yourself or a famous movie star. The cutouts can be fun at parties or to decorate a home movie theater. These cutouts typically can be completed in an afternoon.

Instructions

Drawn Cutouts

1. Lay a large piece of paper on the floor. If you don't have a roll of paper large enough, you can tape multiple pieces of copy or printer paper together to make one large enough.

2. Have the person you are cutting out lie on the paper. She can lie with their arms flat beside her body or posed in a funny position.

3. Trace around the body with a pencil.

4. Decorate the silhouette with markers or paint. You could even put fabric on the outline for clothes.

5. Cut out the shape along the line originally drawn.

Photo Cutouts

6. Choose a photo from your computer that you want to use. You can use a photo from your own collection or one that you find online. Make sure it is a high resolution photo.

7. Upload the photo to a photo enlargement program. Some are free, such as Rasterbator, while others like BenVista PhotoZoom Pro 2 can be used in demo form for free, but must be purchased to use the full version.

8. Print out the photo once you have enlarged it. You can choose how many pieces of paper you want the photo printed on. This number will depend on whether you are printing an adult or child, and how much cardboard you have.

9. Glue the papers to a large piece of cardboard. Make sure to line up the pages correctly; it will be slightly like a puzzle.

10. Cut out the picture and cardboard using a sharp utility knife. You can cut as close to the photo as you like. The closer you cut, the more the cutout will look real.
