1. Go for a walk. Waikiki Beach runs along the coast of Oahu from Ala Wai Canal two-and-a-half miles to Diamond Head, a volcanic cone and one of the most famous geographical monuments in Hawaii. The beach is segmented into eight different areas, each with its own subtle distinctions.


Find a Multitude of Transportation Options


2. Take "TheBus," Oahu's public transportation system. It serves all of Waikiki and stops downtown and at the airport.


3. Check for airport shuttles to your hotel. Many of the hotels in Waikiki provide their guests free airport pickup and drop-off.


4. Fly into Honolulu International Airport to get to Waikiki. There are direct flights from the mainland.

6. Walk to the beach. There are mid-range accommodations in Waikiki that are priced from $70 to $150 per night.

8. Save money and eat in. There are budget Waikiki accommodations available, complete with kitchenettes, that run from $45 to $70 per night.
