Announce Charitable Donations
As Wedding Favors
According to the online wedding magazine The Knot, couples planning their weddings are beginning to look beyond traditional food and fun favors and opting instead for favors that give back to a cause they're passionate about. If you're considering giving charitable donations in lieu of traditional wedding favors, plan to budget $2 to $5 per guest for your donation, and plan to do a little legwork before you make your donation to be sure you're giving to an organization whose activities as well as whose cause you support.
Instructions
1. Pen a note to guests thanking them for coming to your wedding and letting them know about the donation you've made. Use language like "Thank you so much for celebrating our wedding with us. In lieu of favors, a donation has been made to" and add the name of the charity you're supporting. If you like, you can add information about why you chose the charity in question, such as "in honor of the bride's father John Smith" or "in memory of Donna Jones."
2. Choose paper and printing for your note to coordinate with the rest of your wedding stationery, such as invitations and wedding program. You can use your invitation printer to create note cards or print them yourself. Print a card for each guest. If you can, print a few extras just in case. You can use the cards plain or slip them into envelopes. If you're putting them in envelopes, write each guest's name on the outside of the envelope.
3. Place a note on each of your table settings to let guests know about your gift. If you like, make an announcement or ask a friend or family member to make an announcement during the toast-making time at your reception in addition to leaving note cards.
