Colors of tropical fruit, such as the orange and green of a papaya, work well with a tropical theme.
Tropical-themed cards can be used for many occasions. You could use a bright beach scene as a greeting card to warm up a winter day, or use the tropical theme to invite someone to a beach-themed party. The point of a tropical card is that it invokes the feeling of warmth, has bright colors and comes together in a cohesive theme. There are many different designs that will fit a tropical theme, including fruit, flowers, birds and tropical colors, or a beach, island or rain forest scene. The greeting inside can be a play on the theme or it can stay simple.
Instructions
1. Fold the card stock in half either horizontally or vertically depending on your preference. If you are going to create a beach theme, horizontally works best.
2. Decorate the front of the card with stickers and shapes. You could use stickers of tropical fruits, such as pineapple, mango and coconut to make a collage, or try gluing on shapes of palm trees and waves for a beach scene. You could also use flower designs, such as hibiscus or orchids, or birds such as parrots and toucans in a tropical rain forest scene. A simple card could use strips of brightly colored paper arranged in a pattern for a burst of tropical color.
3. Add embellishments to enhance the theme. A dash of glitter on a sand cutout adds dimension, while a textured paint can make a palm tree look realistic.
4. Write a greeting on the inside of the card with a pen to finish the card. If you want to use tropical-themed greetings, they'll add to the interest. You might try something such as "the tide is bringing in the fun" or another tropical-like greeting.
