Hang Outdoor String Lights

If you have ever wanted to accent the look of your home during the holidays, or any time of the year, by hanging outdoor string lights, then you may be relieved to know that the process is not that difficult. Hanging outdoor lights is starting to become more than just a winter holiday event. People are starting to hang outdoor lights for Independence Day, Halloween and any other holiday that benefits from a little outdoor light. You can also string outdoor lights to add some illumination to your backyard patio or deck as well. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Hanging Outdoor String Lights

1. Test every string of lights that you intend to install by plugging them in, one strand at a time, into the outdoor outlet you intend to use to power them. If you do not have any outdoor outlets then you can purchase an outdoor power box that stakes into the ground and plugs into your basement through the basement window. Make sure you weatherproof around the window to keep the elements out of your basement.

2. Remove the gutter clips from their packaging and place a generous amount into your coat pocket for easy retrieval.

3. Set up your ladder so that you have safe access to your gutters. Have someone hold the ladder at the base if there is no way to safely use the ladder on your own.

4. Clip the gutter clips in starting at the end of the gutter and then place one every 6 inches along the gutters.

5. Pull back the tab on the gutter clip that is designed to hold the light strand in place, and then drop the strand into the clip. If you try to push the strand into place you may break the clip, your gutter and you may fall.
