Make A Surfboard Invitation

Crashing waves and sandy beaches bring to mind palm trees, luaus and surfboards. This tropical paradise makes a fun theme for a party, whether it's a summer pool party or a winter luau to fend off the blues. A surfboard invitation is ideal for a luau or surfing themed party. Instead of a traditional square invitation, make the card shaped like a surfboard for a creative homemade invitation. The invitations will make your guests want to grab their own surfboards and head to the beach.

Instructions

1. Create a template for your invitations by drawing a surfboard shape on a piece of cardboard.

2. Trace the template onto card stock in the desired color. Surfboards often are bright and colorful, so choose your card stock colors accordingly. Trace the surfboard template to create as many invitations as needed for your guest list.

3. Cut out each of the individual surfboards.

4. Create a design on one side of each surfboard invitation. Use markers, stickers, stencils, foam shapes or other craft supplies for the embellishments. Ideas for the designs include stripes, tropical flowers, polka dots or palm trees. Consider the interests of the guest of honor to determine whether they would make a good design.

5. Turn each invitation over once the embellishments dry. Write all the party details on the back side of the invitation, including the location, time, date, RSVP information and any other relevant details.

6. Place each surfboard in a plastic zip top bag for an extra enhancement. Place a small amount of sand and a few sea shells in each plastic bag. Add a palm tree and sun sticker on the outside of the bag for the final touches. Send or hand deliver the beach in a bag to the guests.
