Design Your Own Water Bottle Labels

Decorative labels on water bottles will be eye-catching at any event.

Personalized labels add character to a plain water bottle that is given out to business customers or guests at a special event. Commercially designed and produced labels can be quite expensive to buy. You can design a label with your own artwork or computer images. For example, a wedding design may include a monogram of the couple's initials. A business water bottle can feature the company's logo as an advertisement at an open house or community event. Once the design is developed, you'll be able to print as many as you need on water-resistant labels. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Remove the manufacturer's label from a water bottle in the size that you intend to use for your business or social event. Measure the length and width of the label with a ruler. An average 16.9 ounce water bottle has a label 2.5 inches high and 8 inches long.

2. Draw a rectangular shape according to the original label measurement on a piece of paper using the ruler and a pencil. Place the manufacturer's label along the edge of the rectangle. Use it for a guide and lightly mark one end of the drawing where the new label edges will overlap on the backside of the bottle.

3. Make a rough sketch of the label that you want for your water bottle using a pencil. Center the main image or text between the overlapped edge marking and the opposite end of the rectangle. Your main message and image combination should be less than four inches wide. This will center the thank you, bridal couple's name or business name and contact information at the front of the bottle for ease of reading.

4. Open the computer program of choice and select the size to create the rectangular shape for the water bottle label on the screen. You may choose to hand draw the entire design with artist pencils or pens to scan into the computer and add text to it. Be sure to match the drawing size to the size of the original bottle label. When hand designing an image for a label, use a bold outline for a clear image.

5. Choose the text style, type and color for the wording of the water bottle label. Insert the words onto the label image on the screen. Select a clip art image or add a photo to the label design using the computer program. Add a colorful border or background to the label. Save your design to a file until it is time to print it on labels.
