Design Free Printable Wedding Invitations

Creating your invitation together may be the most fun you have planning your wedding.

Your wedding is coming up and you're likely excited, but not about the costs. Weddings can be budget friendly, especially if you make your own wedding invitations. With so many fonts, formats and paper selections readily available, creating something to match the mood of your wedding will be easier than you may have expected. If you make your own unique wedding invitations it is possible to print 100 invitations for well under $50.00, while commercially produced ones can cost up to five times more.

Instructions

1. Be creative and make wedding invitations any size, color or shape you desire. But remember they'll need to fit into an envelope for mailing. For regular size invitations you will need to purchase 8 1/2" by 11" card stock. You can have up to four wedding invitations on one sheet depending on the size you want and if they will be folded or not. The size of the invitations' paper will need to be the size in the page setup of your publisher program.

2. Find web sites that offer free templates for your wedding invitations. Southworth.com has an extensive gallery of templates for invitations from the couple or from the parents of the bride. You can either download the wedding invitations templates or type directly into your publisher or word processor. Wedding clip art is also available online, but you may want to make it personal. A picture of you and your fiance's hands interlocked with the rings on would be perfect.

3. Decide how the wedding invitations will look. The colors of your wedding invitations should match either the wedding or reception theme. Choosing the font and layout is the fun part. Websites such as 1001freefonts.com have many different fonts to choose from. Type up your invitations, changing font size as needed and making sure to include all of the important details.

4. Once your wedding invitations are to your liking, it is time to print them. Print a test invitation first so you can evaluate if it fits your paper and looks right. You may need to set the printer up to print on both sides and also the front of the invitations, depending upon the style you've chosen.

5. Get creative with your wedding invitations. To create an overlay, you will need to purchase translucent vellum. To reveal the background card underneath, use a crisp opaque white to contrast with the darker backgrounds of wedding invitations. Also, invitation stamps or seals are an elegant addition that will look like you paid more that you actually did.
