Samoa lies in the South Pacific.
Samoan is the native language of inhabitants of the South Pacific Islands of Samoa. Although divided into The Independent State of Samoa and the U.S.-owned American Samoa, islanders share common customs and language. These islands boast an interesting history, beautiful land, beautiful people and a dazzling culture. They invite you to visit and learn about them. Learning the native language opens many doors into the secrets of a society, and allows a more personal interaction with the locals. Luckily, many readily available books and CDs offer Samoan language instruction.
Instructions
1. Check your local library. Even if that particular library lacks the materials you seek, many libraries participate in loan programs with other libraries across the country. If any library participating in the program has books or CDs on Samoan, you can get them.
2. Look online. Many companies, such as Amazon, offer a variety of both books and CDs to help you learn Samoan.
3. Find a Samoan or South Pacific cultural center. Many cities across the U.S., particularly on the West Coast, host an ever-growing population of Pacific Islanders. Culture centers offer an opportunity to learn not only about the language, but about the people as well.
