Homemade Party Favors For First Birthday

Balloons

Party favors are a way to thank guests for attending a party and for any gifts that they might have brought. What homemade favors do you give at a birthday party for a child who is turning 1 year old? There are some inexpensive and fitting party favors that you can give at your child's first birthday party. Does this Spark an idea?

Sweets

Bake cookies and hand them out in decorative tins. You can also make some homemade candy and give it out in cute jars. There are all kinds of fun products that you can use to make adorable sweets at your local craft store.

Piggy Bank

It is never too early to start saving for a child's college education. That's why a piggy bank makes a great first birthday party favor. You can buy plain piggy banks at your local craft store along with paint for decorating. Paint each young guest's name, as well as a fun design, on each pggy bank. The banks can be painted in just a solid color, too. If you don't want to buy plain piggy banks, use an empty container, such as jars or tubs, to make your own banks. Cut a slot in the top of the lid and it is ready to be decorated.

Play Dough

Make a large batch of homemade play dough (see resource for directions). Empty and clean one cake frosting container for each young guest at your child's first birthday party. Put some of your homemade play dough in each empty container and give them out as favors. You can dress up the containers by typing ribbon around them or coloring the outside of the container with permanent markers.

Super Hero Capes

Cut rectangles of felt long enough to be a cape. Using a craft glue device, attach a strip of ribbon -- long enough so children can safely fit the cape over their heads -- along the top of the capes. Decorate the capes with fabric paint. You can also write, using the fabric paint, each child's name on their cape. Capes can be decorated to match the party's theme or with any design.
