The islands of Hawaii have long been an exotic locale for tourists, and a great place to experience warm island hospitality, exquisite beaches and maybe even see a volcano or two. There are very many places to go and things to do on the islands, so before you plan a trip to Hawaii, it's a good idea to do extensive research. Here are some of the best options for sightseeing in Hawaii.
Instructions
1. Check out Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is perhaps Hawaii's most significant historical site considering its role in World War II. The Harbor is both beautiful and historically notable, and has several attractions open to the public, including the Arizona Memorial and the submarine Bowfin.
2. Stop by the Aloha Tower in Honolulu. The Aloha Tower is known for greeting passenger ships and welcoming them to Hawaii. Atop the tower, visitors can get the best bird's eye view of the harbor, Maritime Center, and Honolulu's urban skyline. There is also an Aloha Tower center market place which has a good selection of products for tourists.
3. Have fun in Ala Moana Park. Ala Moana Park is located in a convenient location halfway between lively Waikiki Beach (full of tanned tourists and locals) and downtown Honolulu. This park has a great view of the sandy shores of Waikiki Beach, and very easy access to lots of shopping such as the massive and exciting Ala Moana Shopping Center. There is a great variety of restaurants and shops in this area. Also check out the Kewalo Basin sightseeing harbor boats here.
4. Visit Mauna Kea (White Mountain) on the big island of Hawaii. Mauna Kea is Hawaii's highest mountain. Not only is it Hawaii's highest mountain--it is the highest mountain in the entire Pacific! The mountain is called White Mountain because it is usually covered in snow. If you drive up high enough Mauna Kea, you are rewarded with breathtaking views and sightings of red lava on the ground. This is a truly exquisite place to take in the natural beauty of the big island of Hawaii.
5. Spend a day at Mauna Loa, also on the big island of Hawaii. Mauna Loa is perhaps one of the best known tourist sites in all of Hawaii, as it is an active volcano. Not only is it Hawaii's best known volcano, it is also the world's largest volcano, rising 13,677 feet above sea level. This is definitely a must-visit for any tourists to Hawaii's main island.
