The fairy Tinkerbell is a famous character from Peter Pan, a play and book written by J.M. Barrie that has been adapted in different literary forms by a variety of authors during recent decades. The most popular depiction of Tinkerbell is by the Walt Disney Company, in which she is drawn as a cartoon character and is featured in many of the corporation's films and advertisements. The cartoon version of Tinkerbell, similar to the way she is described in books, is a fairy with blond hair wearing a short, low-cut green dress and large fairy wings.
Instructions
Make a Tinkerbell Costume
1. Consider making your own costume at home. Tinkerbell's traditional costume is quite simple, and the essential items are things that you can probably make yourself very inexpensively. The main parts of the costume will be Tinkerbell's green dress, her fairy wings and a magic wand.
2. Get some green cloth from a local fabric store. Depending on the season, decide what the appropriate material is based on the weather. For example, if you plan to wear your costume for Halloween, it may be better to choose a heavier fabric and to get enough that you will be able to make a dress that covers up more of your body.
3. Use the green cloth to create Tinkerbell's dress. In the popular cartoon image of Tinkerbell, her dress is short and low cut, but if you are more conservative or are making the costume for a child, feel free to modify the design. You may want to consider purchasing a simple green dress from a discount clothing store if you do not sew or simply want to save time.
4. Purchase fairy wings from a costume store in your area or online. Fairy wings are an extremely common accessory sold by these establishments, so it should be no problem to get a suitable pair. If you prefer to make your own wings at home, you can easily create them by using two wire coat hangers as the frames and stretching a translucent fabric, such as pantyhose, over each hanger to create the wings.
5. Make your own magic wand from a long rod or stick. Decorate the wand with silver paint or aluminum foil. Use aluminum foil or construction paper to create a star to place at the tip of your wand.
6. Consider wearing a blond wing if your natural hair color is darker than Tinkerbell's. The hair is not necessarily the focal point of a Tinkerbell costume, but it may help to solidify the image you are working toward. Fashion your hair into a bun on the top of your head, as Tinkerbell's hair is usually arranged.
