SpongeBob is a yellow square sponge character from Nickelodeon. He is a common favorite cartoon character of kids today. Throwing your child a SpongeBob-themed birthday will make it a fun and memorable occasion. Most of the decorations you can make yourself to keep it inexpensive. Under the sea decorations are easy to find for themed parties and would work perfectly for a SpongeBob-themed party. After all, SpongeBob does live in a pineapple under the sea. Instructions
1. Type the party invitations out on your computer using a word processor. Use a festive looking font if you wish. Print the invitations out on SpongeBob printed paper or design your own with clip art. Roll each invitation up and use a ribbon to tie it closed. This gives it a scroll look to the invites to fit the underwater SpongeBob theme.
2. Decorate the birthday cake with an edible print of SpongeBob. If you are talented in cake decorating, you can use the icing bag and create SpongeBob on the cake yourself. Make small cupcakes and place SpongeBob party favors or figurines on each cupcake for the children to take home.
3. Hang blue colored streamers around the room to resemble ocean waves. Also hang streamers around the cake table and gift table. Hang underwater type decorations from the ceiling such as shells or even cardboard cutouts of SpongeBob's friends. These can be printed out on your computer and glued to cardboard to make them sturdy. Fill blue balloons with helium to resemble bubbles. Apply shell and starfish stickers to the balloons and streamers for added detail.
4. Soak a square yellow sponge, to resemble SpongeBob, in water and have the children play the hot potato game with it. Play music while they toss it around and whoever has it in their possession when the music stops has to step out of the game. Give away a SpongeBob toy of some sort as a prize to the winner who is last standing in the game.
5. Fill up plastic coconut cups with fruit punch as a beverage to go with the cake. The coconut cups give it a tropical feel to the party. Have SpongeBob-themed plates and napkins to serve with the cake or cupcakes. These can be purchased online or in most stores selling party supplies.
