Address Attire On Party Invitations

When inviting a guest to an event, especially if it is a formal affair such as a wedding, it can be acceptable to address what type of attire one should wear. If clothing is not mentioned in the invitation, guests may be confused as what to wear and might feel too uncomfortable to ask. Attire should be mentioned when the invitee is requiring a dress code whether it is a themed party or surprise party, or black-tie affair, so guests can show up in style at your event.

Instructions

1. Include necessary information in the invitation such as who, what, where, when, and whether it is a themed party.

2. Clearly state what type of event it is, whether it is a casual or formal affair, somewhere in the body of the invitation if you feel it is relevant or guests may question it.

3. Print attire description in smaller letters in the bottom right-hand corner. This should be noticeable, but not overpowering to the invitation in general.

4. Use clear and simple words to explain attire such as casual, swimsuit, semi-formal, coat and tie, black tie, or Halloween costume. If it is a barbecue in the backyard, state that and guests will know that they can dress casually.

5. Do not mention a dress code if it is not relevant. For example, if is not a themed party or a formal event, guests should be able to dress how they would like. If attire is not mentioned, most people dress casually.
