Hotels In Kona Hawaii

Hawaii's Kona District plays host to various hotels, many of which lie alongside the ocean.

Located on the western shores of the island of Hawaii, the Kona region stretches for more than 60 miles. The Kona District includes such attractions as the seaside village of Kailua-Kona and Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park, home to fishponds and early temples. As the Big Island attracts more than one million tourists annually, the Kona region features its fair share of hotels.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Kaupulehu

The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Kaupulehu sits within close proximity of the Kona International Airport at Keahole, Kekaha Kai State Park and Kukio Golf and Beach Club. The hotel's 243 guest rooms, suites and villas sit inside two low-rise towers. The ground level rooms feature private outdoor showers cordoned off with gardens and lava rock for privacy. All three on-site restaurants offer children's menus while the outdoor Beach Tree Grill serves up Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. The hotel also features eight tennis courts and seven swimming pools, including a snorkeling pond and an ocean pool, or rather a portion of the Pacific Ocean sectioned off with lava rocks.

Royal Kona Resort

Royal Kona Resort lies just south of the Kailua-Kona town center and less than a mile from the University of the Nations. Spread across more than 12 acres of oceanfront property, the hotel offers 436 guest rooms amidst three towers. Some rooms feature views of the ocean or West Hawaii Mountains, while others include private lanais. Outdoor amenities include a split-level swimming pool, a saltwater snorkeling lagoon and four tennis courts. At sunset, the hotel plays host to "Lava Legends and Legacies," a luau featuring hula dancers and an all-you-can-eat Polynesian buffet.

Kona Tiki Hotel

All of the guest rooms at the Kona Tiki Hotel feature private lanais with views of the water, as well as small refrigerators. Some rooms include kitchenettes. Adding to the hotel's rest and relaxation policy, none of the rooms include telephones or televisions. The lobby does include a pay phone however. Guests also receive a complimentary buffet breakfast each morning, typically comprised of tropical fruit and baked goods served around the swimming pool. Reservations for this family-run facility fill up quickly, so book months in advance. The hotel sits approximately half a mile from the Keauhou Shopping Center and Hillcrest Park.

Kona Village Resort

Kona Village Resort lies 15 miles south of four golf courses and the village of Waikoloa. Situated upon the grounds of an ancient fishing village, the resort features 125 bungalows outfitted with thatched roofs, hammocks and private lanais. The old-fashioned accommodations do not feature modern conveniences such as air-conditioning, telephones, televisions or even keys. Guests receive all-inclusive meals including luaus and beachside dining experiences. The 82-acre facility includes its own white sand beaches and opportunities for windsurfing and scuba diving. The resort also offers lei-making workshops and stargazing sessions with lectures from a noted astronomer.
