Address Envelopes For Invitations

Once you have your guest list in place, it's important to make sure everyone receives their invitations in time. Invitations should be sent out six weeks before the wedding day. This gives guests ample time to RSVP and make hotel accommodations if necessary. There are certain rules of etiquette when it comes to addressing wedding invitations. It's important to know the correct way to prepare the outer envelopes.

Instructions

1. Place all parts of the wedding invitation inside an envelope. This first envelope is called the inner envelope.

2. Write down the name of the person to whom the invitation is going. If it is a man, place "Mr." before the name. If it is a single female, write "Miss or Ms." before the name, and if it is a married woman, write "Mrs." before the name. If you are inviting a married couple or a couple living together, write both of their names. If it is a single person you are allowing to bring a date, write "and Guest" after his or her name. Include the names of the person's children if they are invited.

3. Place the inner envelope inside another envelope, also known as the outer envelope.

4. Put a stamp in the top right corner of the outer envelope.

5. Write down the address where you want undeliverable mail sent back in the top left corner of the envelope.

6. Write down the name of the recipient in the center of the envelope. Include their address on the line under the name, and include the city, state and zip code on the line under the address. If it is a man, place "Mr." before the name. If it is a single female, write "Miss or Ms." before the name, and if it is a married woman, write "Mrs." before the name. If you are inviting a married couple or a couple living together, write both of their names. Don't include their children's names unless they are 18 and over on the outer envelope. Do not include "and Guest" on the outer envelope.
