High Response Sales Flyer Ideas

Ideas to enhance your flyer's effectiveness.

The idea of using flyers to promote a business has been around for centuries. Over that time, people have figured out many smart, simple ways to enhance their flyer's effectiveness and generate greater response. There are some basic ideas, such as using color and humor to be more memorable, but there are slightly more sophisticated ideas that can further enhance the effectiveness of your flyers.

Relevance

The right timing can take your flyers to a new level. For instance, suppose Father's Day is coming up, and you're promoting a golf store. Which would be more effective; a flyer promoting women's golf gloves, or a flyer promoting new men's golf clubs? Tying your promotions to major holidays or events can drastically increase their effectiveness.

Delivery

Flyers don't just come in the mail, they can be delivered by hand, or placed in locations where the right people will find them at the right time. Imagine you're promoting a windshield repair shop. You could mail a flyer, or you could place them directly on people's windshields in the local mall parking lot. You could even pick out windows that are already damaged, noting your low repair costs and the proximity of your business. Suddenly, the way your flyer is delivered adds to its effectiveness, and can even lower your costs because there is no postage. Be sure to check the laws regarding flyer distribution in your area. Some regions prohibit it all together.

Food

Have you ever noticed that banks offer free cake or a BBQ when they open a new branch in your neighborhood? Ever wondered why? It's to give people a reason to visit, to get consumers walking through the door and to create an opportunity for the branch employees to talk, make connections and get new business. Something as simple as a flyer promoting free hotdogs and soda for your businesses anniversary can bring a remarkable number of new customers through your doors.

Special Offers

People love to feel like they're getting a deal, no matter how big or small. That's why special offers work so well. Whether it's a package deal (two for the price of one), a percent reduction (15 percent off all merchandise) or a limited time offer (this weekend only), people are willing to come to your store because they're getting a deal. Best of all, they'll often buy other products at full price while they're there.

Don't Forget to KISS

In addition to all of this, you want to follow the KISS principle; keep it simple, stupid. Don't overcrowd your flyer with useless information. Instead, give people the details they need, make your offer prominent, include directions, contact information and your website. This ensures they know find you, they know what you're offering, and, if they don't come in on the day they receive your flyer, they can still find you online or by phone.
