Make someone's birthday special with a personalized card.
With a good printer and quality card stock, birthday cards printed at home can look almost as good as commercial cards, with the advantage that you can personalize them as much or as little as you want. Online card websites let you choose a template and add a personalized message; some allow you to upload a photo from your hard drive to add to the card. Make sure you have plenty of ink before you start printing.
Instructions
1. Select a template from a website offering cards, like Greetings Island. Decorate the front of the card with text or a small clip art image. Click on the page numbers at the top of the template to edit the other pages. Add an optional photo from your hard drive to one of the inner pages. Copy and paste from the selection of suggested messages or type your own original text. When your card is fully-customized, click the "Print" button and choose a half-size or full-size card. Print on colored card stock for additional flair.
2. Hover your cursor over the designs Got Free Cards to see a larger card image and click on one to select it. Choose to work on the "Cover" or "Inside" of your card by clicking the appropriate tab. Click the "Add Photo" button to upload a photo from your computer and resize it, if necessary. Click on "Add Text" to open the text editing window. Type your message, change your font size and color and position your text. Click the "Add Stickers" button to add a small clip-art image. After you've finished customizing your design, choose to "Print" it one- or two-sided. You can also "Save" the completed card to your hard drive to print out again or attach to an email.
3. Choose a printable birthday card template number from 123 Printcards and select the card style as "simple card," "letter card" or "I have a lot to say." Complete the form fields with the recipient's details and your message and choose the template number from the dropdown list. Click the "make it" button to see your card in print layout format. Click the browser's "Back" button to make any changes or click "File" on the browser menu bar and then click "Print" to print out your card on one sheet of paper. Wait for the ink to completely dry before cutting out your card with a guillotine for a straight edge. Use the guide marks on the printout to score and fold your card.
