Make A Pineapple Centerpiece For A Wedding

Keep the leaves on the pineapple for an extra decorative effect.

Create pineapple centerpieces for a destination wedding at a tropical island, or to bring the tropics to your themed wedding at home. If you can, make your centerpieces on the day of the wedding to prevent the pineapples from becoming overly dry, especially if space is limited for storing them before the festivities. If utilizing candles in your pineapple centerpieces, save them for use in other craft projects or simply for lighting purposes. Try placing the pineapple centerpieces indoors, if possible, to avoid attracting insects.

Instructions

1. Carve a design in the presentation side of your pineapple. Create cuts in whatever design you like, such as a triangular design, oval design or zigzag design. Remove the outer rind where you made your cuts and discard, then use a spoon to remove the fruit from inside the pineapple. Save the fruit for eating if desired.

2. Dry the inside of the pineapple. Stuff it with napkins, paper towels or old, clean rags to absorb the remaining juice. Allow the pineapple to dry out for at least two hours before removing the rags or towels.

3. Place a small votive candle within the dried pineapple. Use a yellow or green candle to match the pineapple's colors, or go for white to match the bride's dress or use another color depending on preference. Also try placing larger matching candles on each side of the pineapple for added effect.
