Have A Garden Party For Girls

Creating a garden party for young girls teaches them about etiquette and the Earth.

There are two types of garden parties that you may have for girls. The first type of garden party is a formal tea party where you can invite the children to dress up in their best clothes for a lesson in etiquette and socialization. The second type of garden party is where children can experience working in a garden to learn about how plants grow, cooperate towards a goal and see tend to the Earth. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

A Fancy Party

1. Make invitations to the garden party from white card stock and lacy doilies for an elegant touch. Use a decorative but legible handwriting font like Fineliner Script or Chancery for the address and RSVP.

2. Request that the girls wear their best clothes to the garden party. Give suggestions, such as ensuring the request is not a financial hardship for your guests by stating that dresses can be casual.

3. Use a folding table with folding chairs so that clean-up will be easier for you. Cover the table with a white tablecloth. Set the table with reusable plastic plates and utensils. Serve tea in a metal teapot and use sturdy mugs. Strive for a balance between dishes that are elegant enough for the occasion but will not break easily on a patio or deck. Use cloth napkins in napkin rings and engraved place cards to give a touch of fanciness to the event. Place flowers in plastic vases on the table for decoration.

4. Serve teatime foods such as scones, cream puffs and spinach paste sandwiches. Serve decaffeinated tea with lemon wedges and without sugar as the beverage. Balance the sweets with platters of nutritious finger food vegetables and fruits such as baby carrots, cherry tomatoes and apple slices. Promote good etiquette to the girls such as showing them put their napkins in their laps or on the table if you are eating in the British manner.

A Working Party

5. Send invitations to the garden party made from paper with embedded seeds. Buy these at garden or stationery shops. Hand-write invitations. Include a request in the invitation that the girls wear clothes that they do not mind getting dirty.

6. Put a table in the garden with a checkered tablecloth. Use a folding table with folding chairs. Set the table with reusable plastic plates and utensils. Use paper napkins.

7. Provide small trowels, seedlings and a place to plant in your garden. Instruct the girls on plant, water and care for a seedling.

8. Serve finger foods such as sandwiches. Serve juice for the beverage. Provide nutritious vegetables and fruits. Take time to research information about these foods and work your knowledge into conversations. Say, for example, that tomatoes are fruit or talk about how apples are related to roses. Have the girls, if you own a produce garden, pick their meal and wash the food. The children will learn about harvesting and healthy food.
