Luau-themed party decor is all about vibrant colors and tropical touches. Purchasing luau-themed decorations is an option, as party supply stores carry tropical-themed decorations and they are also available online. However, you can save money and personalize the decor by making your own luau decorations. Creating the right decor to set the tone for your luau is simple and can be enjoyable. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Create table skirt decorations by cutting long, vertical strips, roughly 1 1/2 inches wide, from the green tablecloths. These strips will then be taped along the edges of the table to form a grass-skirt effect.
2. Decorate the tabletops by scattering seashells across the top. Hang fishing nets from the ceiling or in the doorways.
3. Dress up napkins with lei-inspired napkin rings. Cut individual cupcake liners into floral shapes by cutting scallops around the edges. Pierce the center of the cupcake liner with scissors, making two holes roughly 1/2 inch apart. Thread a length of ribbon through the holes, and tie the ribbon around the napkin.
4. Make leis for guests to wear by cutting more cupcake liners as in Step 3, but instead of piercing two holes in the center of each flower, make only one small hole in the center. Cut the plastic straws into 3/4-inch pieces. Thread the leis by cutting a length of yarn and then alternating a paper flower with a piece of the straw. Tie the yarn ends together once the leis are fully threaded.
5. Complete the look by placing various tropical plants throughout the party space. For instance, use hibiscus plants that are in bloom and showing off their vibrant-colored flowers. Use real or artificial plants, depending upon your budget.
