Make your guest list before creating the invitations.

Let your artistic passion sparkle by creating custom birthday invitations for your little boy or girl. Make any theme come to life with decorative embellishments that suit your child's interests and buy high-quality paper and envelopes. General themes that include striped or polka dot patterned cardstock paper work well for a boy's or girl's birthday celebration. Get your child involved in the decorating process and save one of the finished cards for your child's birthday scrapbook layouts. Buy markers, cardstock, embellishments and envelopes that match your theme. Some themes that work well for parties include puppies, lambs, turtles, trains, flowers or heart themes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Fold the cardstock paper in half or cut the paper to create the desired size you want for your child's invitation.

2. Glue embellishments around the the border of the invitation. The type of decorations you choose depend heavily on the theme. Button flowers work well for a flower theme, while safari animal chipboard shapes work for a jungle birthday theme. Chipboard embellishments are made out of cardboard with decorative paper on top to create an image that pops off the page.

3. Write your message on the front of the card with markers and glue larger decorative embellishments on the front underneath the invitation greeting. Some examples of larger decorations include a larger butterfly sticker, chipboard truck or photo of a puppy. Blow on the card to ensure that the marker dries before moving on to the next step.

4. Spray a thin coat of glue on the front of the card and sprinkle glitter on top of the glue. Gently shake the card off to remove excess glitter. Once the card is dry, write your message inside and place your finished creations in an envelope.
