Have A Powerpuff Girls Birthday Party

Little girls love these powerpuff girls!

Sugar, spice, everything nice and chemical X...these are the ingredients used to create the Powerpuff Girls, a trio of crime fighting kindergarteners whose show was popular over a decade ago. Thanks to cable networks this show can still be found daily on television, but unfortunately products to please your own five year old who has suddenly become enthralled by this show are not quite as available. Luckily, there are ways to not only find rare products, but to create your own Powerpuff Girls themed birthday party. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Do an online retail and auction search for Powerpuff Girls. Here you may be able to find party goods such as paper plates, napkins, mylar ballons and party hats with the Powerpuff Girls on them. You may also be able to find other items to use at your party. Whatever you find that you decide you would like to order, just give order early enough to allow the item to be shipped and arrive in time for your party.

2. When you have decided on the date, time and place for the Powerpuff Party, the next step will be to send the invitations. If you were lucky enough to find some that fit your theme on ebay, great! If not, you can make your own. Try looking online for images of the Powerpuff Girls that you can use to adorn your invitations, or draw them yourself since Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup are quite easy to sketch on your own. If you can't find or draw the images, just use green, pink and blue paper and indicate with text that it is a Powerpuff Girls Party. Ask your guests to dress in pink, blue or green, depending on their favorite Powerpuff Girl.

3. Decorate for your party by incorporating the color scheme of the Powerpuff Girls. Hang pink, blue and green streamers along with balloons of the same colors. If you didn't find Powerpuff themed items online, use these colors for your plates, cups, napkins and plastic tablecloths. Print coloring pages from the internet, have your child color them and hang them around the room. You can use a soft marker to draw the girls' faces on the balloons-or leave the balloons plain and let the kids do this later as one of your activities.

4. Food for your party can consist of the regular kid fare such as macaroni and cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets or whatever you find suitable and easy enough to prepare and serve. To these basics you can then add some snack items such as "Power" Cheese Puffs, "Sugar and Spice Snack Mix and Chemical X Punch. The power cheese puffs can just be regular cheese puffs, the snack mix can be purchased in a sweet and salty variety (or you can make your own) and the punch can be any drink you would like to serve. Just pour your items into bowls and label them accordingly. If you don't want the mess of punch in a bowl and would prefer to serve pouch drinks, soda cans or juice boxes, print mailing labels that say Chemical X and adhere them to the containers. Finish off the fare with a Powerpuff Girls birthday cake. You can ask a bakery that specializes in character cakes if they can make one or make your own. To learn make your own, click on the Make a Powerpuff Girls Cake in the resources section below.

5. Search online for Powerpuff Girls soundtracks. There are still some available for sale that you can use to play the music at your party.

6. Plan some games and activities. Pin the bow on Blossom is an option. You will need to draw Blossom with something large such as a piece of oak tag and hang it on a wall. Cut out a bow and play just as you would play pin the tail on the donkey. Play musical chairs with the previously mentioned Powerpuff Girls soundtrack for the music. Provide Powerpuff Girls coloring pages for the kids to color. Have the kids draw the Powerpuff Girls faces on paper plates and the balloons. Since you had them come wearing the color of their favorite Powerpuff Girl, let them complete the look with black stripes and Powerpuff eyes they make themselves. You can provide black crepe paper for the horizontal stripe around the waist, or use black material you have cut into belts ahead of time. To make Powerpuff Girl eyes, check out the article in the resources section below this article.

7. Providing the guests with party favors does not have to be elaborate. Prepare extra sugar and spice snack mix ahead of time, package and label individual servings and send them home with your guests. Let them keep the Powerpuff eyes they made, the coloring pages (along with some extra blank ones to color at home) and a balloon and your child's friends will be happy with their take home loot without you having to purchase or make favors in addition to the other party preparations.
