Fund-raisers can collect clothing for people in need.
Whether you are trying to earn money to support your children's school or want to help the town implement a new community center, fund-raisers are a great way to collect money for a good cause. Fund-raising is best when the cause does not only affect and support you; instead, you should raise money to benefit your community. Fund-raisers are easiest to put together if you have people who will help; gather friends who have the same desire as you to raise money for your cause. Plan out the steps and details of your event before you begin putting everything into motion. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Choose the type of fundraiser you'd like to hold. Ideas include throwing a party and charging admittance, holding a car wash, selling baked goods or putting together a concert. If you plan on holding a concert, it's best if the band will volunteer their time.
2. Set an earnings goal. Determine how much money, clothing or food you'd like to earn or collect at the fund-raiser.
3. Write up a budget that includes how much you'll need to spend on staff (volunteers are the most cost-effective), invitations and marketing, food and space rental.
4. Gather a fund-raising committee. If you're able to get high-profile people, such as local celebrities or business owners, you may have an easier time collecting money.
5. Find a location. You may need to rent space in order to hold your fund-raiser. If it's small enough to hold at someone's house, you can save money in this area.
6. Market your fund-raiser by word-of-mouth, mailing and emailing invitations, and posting notices at local businesses.
7. Set up a way of collecting funds. You may want to charge per ticket for the event, or simply collect using a donation box.
