Use a glue stick rather than liquid glue on pocket fold invitations.
Glue your own pocket fold invitations and save considerably on the cost of your invitations. Many pocket fold invitations use double sided tape to create the pocket, but glue creates a more secure bond and prevents the pocket from accidentally opening if the tape comes loose. Use an archival glue stick rather than liquid glue to make the job go faster and to prevent the paper from potentially wrinkling from the water content in liquid glue.
Instructions
1. Lay out your pre-cut and folded pocket invitation. Identify the flap that will be folded over to create your pocket. The short flap is folded and glued to form a pocket. The longer flap is folded over to create the front cover of the invitation.
2. Apply a thin layer of glue to each edge of the flap. Be careful not to apply more than a 1/4-inch wide strip of glue to each side. Applying too much glue will make your pocket too small for the inserts.
3. Fold the flap over and press down. After you've glued one flap down, glue down a second invitation. Working with two invitations at a time makes the process go more quickly.
4. Place the freshly-glued invitations side by side and cover them with a sheet of wax paper. Put a book or other heavy object over the wax paper. The wax paper will prevent the invitations from sticking to the book, and the weight of the book will help the glue adhere.
5. Stack invitations two or three books high, layering wax paper between the books and invitations. You can layer six or ten invitations at a time.
6. Remove the invitations from under the books after 1 hour or when the glue is completely dry.
