Choose Unusual Cocktail Party Venues

Cocktails parties can easily become passe if you don't ginger them up. You can modify the theme, spice the menu with interesting entrees and come up with wild concoctions for drinks. You can also choose an unusual locale for the event. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose the theme of your party. If there is a theme to your cocktail party, the venue will be easier to set. Unusual themes are even better. A theme could be a period like the 1930's, a holiday like Halloween, or an activity like swing dancing.

2. Consider the venues that would be related to that theme. A building that was a brothel in the 1930's, a former mortuary or a swing night club would make a perfect venue for a "Mobster" cocktail party. Choosing a venue in some way related to your theme creates the atmosphere for the entire event. Brainstorm until you have a lengthy list of possibilities.

3. Research the viability of the unusual venues on the list. Phone each place to ask about rental fees, accessibility and capacity. Find out about other accommodations, such as access to bathrooms, a kitchen or other things you may need.

4. Consult your guest list. If you are planning a beach party on a private beach where you have to walk down three flights of stairs to get there and some of the people on your list are disabled, you may want to reconsider your choice. Make sure the unusual place is accessible to all your guests, catering staff and others who are involved.
