Save money for shower games and party favors by making your own baby shower invitations. Making your own allows you to fully personalize the invitations for the mother-to-be and the baby she is expecting. There are hundreds of design options. Brief instructions will give you an idea of what can be done. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Go to Microsoft Word or a similar program on your computer. Under the "Page Layout" tab and "Size" button, adjust the size of the document to fit the size you wish to make the single, non-folding invitation card.

2. Add borders, images and decorative elements to the card. Consider downloading free online images for the card. Use clip art included in the Word editing program or upload the ultrasound picture. Adjust the images and photos as necessary to create the design you want.

3. Add text to the card to give invited guests details regarding the location, time and date of the baby shower. Add text boxes where you wish to place the text. Include the baby's name to further personalize the card.

4. Highlight the text to make adjustments to fit the card. Using the "Format" button or pallet, change the size, font style and color of the text you add to the card. Change the font to a color you can easily read against the invitation's background and make the type large enough for guests who cannot read fine print. The font style should complement other elements on the card.

5. Ensure you have full ink cartridges in your printer and print a test invitation on a sheet of photo card stock paper. Have other party hosts and the expecting mother look over the invitation for spelling errors and to offer suggestions.

6. Make necessary changes to the invitation design and wording. Print another copy and check this thoroughly as well. Make changes again as necessary and repeat this process until you come up with a final copy that all hosts and the expecting mother agree on. Print the necessary number of invitations and save the final design to your desktop so you can find it easily if you need to print more copies.
