Create A Coconut Party Invitation

If you are looking for a unique way to invite your friends and family to your next luau or tropical themed party, why not try something different, such as creating your own unique coconut party invitation made from a real coconut. Creatively personalizing the coconut is the perfect way to turn an ordinary invitation into an interesting conversation piece. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


1. Purchase a small coconut form your local grocery or whole foods store.


2. Use a sharp knife to slice the coconut in half lengthwise.


3. Remove the juice and pulp from the inside of the coconut.


4. Allow the coconut to dry for at least 24 hours.


5. Lightly sand down the outside of the coconut with a piece of sandpaper until smooth.


6. Wipe lightly with a damp cloth, then allow the surface to dry.


7. Freehand paint a unique design on the smooth coconut. Add as much information as you would like on the outside of the coconut.


8. Seal the design on the coconut with a light layer of lacquer.


9. Allow to dry for 24 hours.


10. Write detailed party information on a piece of paper that you place inside of the coconut and secure with raffia and ribbon embellishments.


11. Use a glue gun to secure the invitation or the embellishments if necessary.


12. Hand deliver the invitations or mail in a secure envelope or box.
