Create A Free Internet Radio Station

listen2myradio.com

I don't know about everyone else out there, but I personally think that the ability to broadcast your thoughts, and musical preferences over the internet is pretty cool. So, this article is about doing it for ourselves, using 100% free software!

Instructions

1. Firstly, we're going to set up our free broadcasting account, through a site called listen2myradio.com. So go ahead and click the resource link called "Broadcast site," and set up for the account. This takes awhile to get the verification message... It took approx. one hour for me, but I guess it's an average of 20-30 minutes for others? Anyhow, make sure to use a valid email, as your confirmation is emailed to you.

2. After you've gotten your confirmation email, click the link inside, and you'll be told you've successfully registered. Time to log in!

3. Once you've logged in, you need to "Install" your radio station. So click the install option and put in the information requested.

4. Now you're ready to get your radio details. This part is REALLY REALLY important, as this is where your music's going to send.

5. Now you'll need to download winamp. It's a simple media player that has a VERRRY important plugin. You can get it by typing http://www.winamp.com/player in your browser, or by clicking the resources link called "Winamp"

6. After the download/install with winamp, you need to download the "Shoutcast" plugin. The link to the direct executable will be below. WARNING: ONLY DOWNLOAD .EXE Extensions from trusted parties!

7. Once you've downloaded/installed both winamp and shoutcast, open winamp. Once it's opened, press ctrl+p simultaneously, and scroll down to plug-ins. Click the DSP/Effects category. select the Nullsoft Shoutcast plugin, and config.

8. That page on listen2myradio.com is now the source of our information. The IP is the series of numbers seperated with periods. (oo.o.oo.o.oo) and the port is the number that follows the Colon. ( 00.0.00.0.00:PORT)In the Shoutcast window, plug the IP into the Address, plug the port into the port, and the password into password.

9. click the Encoder tab, and select mp3, followed by bitrate. (I used mp3 64kbpccs/22050khz stereo)

10. Go back to the output tab, and click connect. Now any music you play in your winamp player, plays out to the radiostation!
