Create And Print My Own Event Flyers

Create an event flyer with a bright eye-catching border.

An important step in planning an event is creating an event flyer that will draw a crowd. Flyers should be eye-catching, precise and to the point in stating the important details of the event. Use only two fonts, one for headlines and the other for the rest of the text. You can choose to work from a premade flyer template or make it yourself. It's relatively easy to create and print your own event flyers for anything like a high school dance, a fund raising event, a birthday party or a personal garage sale.

Instructions

1. Choose a layout for your flyer. You can create your own or use a template that is compatible with your software. Microsoft Word and Google Documents both offer free premade templates for flyers.

2. Decide upon a color scheme. The color scheme should be complementary to the event or organization. For a school dance use the school colors, for an apple pie bake off use reds and browns and for a spring bonanza, use spring colors.

3. Create a small colorful border for the event. It could be as simple as three thin lines in your color scheme or small spring flowers. The border should not be too big as it will distract viewers from the main message.

4. Place a headline at the top of the flyer. Use a large font. The headline should be short and attention grabbing, such as "Win a free television", "Fish for kids" or "Dance of the century."

5. Type in information regarding the event, such as the name of the event, who/what it is for, the location, any costs involved and contact information. For emphasis bold or change colors of certain words.

6. Add pictures that illustrate the event. For instance if your event is a bowl-a-thon the picture should be of happy people bowling and if it's for a swim meet, it should be of swimmers.

7. Save your document onto your hard drive.

8. Print event flyers out on your computer or take it to an office supply store to get it printed.
