Create A Party Menu

Planning a party is an enormous undertaking with hundreds of details and elements that must come together to create the perfect event. However, the most important facet of any party is the menu. Decorations can be ugly, the music can be a bore and the theme can be cheesy, but as long as the food is good, your guests will leave the party happy. Putting together a fabulous menu to satiate a myriad of guests is no easy feat, but if you follow these simple steps, you are sure to create something delicious. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Make a list of any allergies that any guests may have. While you do not need to make every single selection dairy-free, it is considerate to provide some items your lactose-intolerant guests can enjoy.

2. Make a list of any known diet restrictions your guests may have. Again, you do not need to base the entire menu around a vegetarian cousin's preferences, but you also do not want to serve pork tenderloin at a bar mitzvah.

3. Establish a budget for your menu since this will help you narrow your choices, especially if the budget is tight.

4. Decide what type of menu you would like to serve. If your event will take place at 3 pm, then there is no need to have a full meal. If your event will fall over a traditional mealtime, you need to decide whether you want a buffet or plated meal.

5. Consider the location of the event before you decide on menu items. If your guests will be walking around, choose foods that can be eaten while standing without utensils.

6. Select items from all of the food groups, as well as both hot and cold items.

7. Choose a variety of beverages to complement your menu selections. Be sure to include options for teetotalers, as well as those who may wish to imbibe.
