Scrabble is a game that requires players to find real words from a scramble of random letters. Since, according to the Oxford Dictionaries website, there are at least 250,000 distinct words in the English language, finding real words in a scramble seems like it should be easy. But in fact, the probability is low. Take a four-letter word, for example. Because there are 26 letters in the alphabet, each letter of the four-letter word has 26 options, for a total of 456,976 permutations. Most of these are nonsense words. Going through them all would take too long. Free online unscrambling programs can make this toilsome task simple.

Creating Words Using A2Z WordFinder: Scrabble Search
1. Visit http://www.puzzledepot.com/wordfinder2/scrabble.html.
2. Type in up to seven random letters into "Rack Letters."
3. Select a minimum length for the created words, and click "Go." The page reloads with a list of the created words from the random assortment.
Creating Words Using Unscramble
4. Visit http://www.unscramble.net/.
5. Type a random assortment of letters into the "Unscramble" text box.
6. Click "Unscramble It."
7. Check the list of real and nonsense words the program produces from the random assortment. Click on real words to see their definitions in an online dictionary.
Create Words using Specialist Online Dictionary's Anagram Solver
8. Visit http://www.specialist-online-dictionary.com/word-unscrambler.html.
9. Type in an assortment of random letters into the Anagram Solver text box. Do not type in more than 9 letters.
10. Check the list that appears from the random letters for any words that are real. The program shows you all possible combinations whether or not the words make sense.
