Create Free Printable Wedding Invitations

Your homemade invitation can be extravagant or simple.


There's no need to purchase premade invitations or hire someone to make them for you. If you have a spare hour or two and some basic equipment, you can print your invitations at home. Making your own invitations is an easy way to trim your wedding budget without sacrificing style. Since you are creating the invitation, you have complete control over the process. If you're not crafty, don't worry. One-sided, flat invitations that are tasteful and appropriate can be easy to make.


Instructions


1. Open a new document on your word processor. Select Page Layout, then the Orientation option, and choose the Landscape option. If you don't know change the document's orientation, refer to your word processor's Help documents.


2. Go to the Columns tool, and choose the two-column option. This tool is usually found in the Page Layout section or in the Tools section of the word processor's menu. Choosing the two-column tool will divide the page into two areas, allowing you to print two invitations on one page.


3. Click on the Ctrl and "E" button at the same time and choose a font that matches your wedding style before you start to type. Traditionally, a script font is used on invitations, but you if you are having a fun, nontraditional wedding, a font such as Comic Sans may be more appropriate. Centering the text beforehand will make the clip art and text centered as you continue your project.


4. Click on the document and insert clip art that matches your wedding theme. The clip art will automatically place itself at the top and center of the card.


Clip art often serves to tie in to the theme of the wedding. For example, if your wedding has a beach theme, you could use clip art of seashells or tropical fish. Insert the clip art by using your word processor's Insert tool or by copying and pasting the image into your document. Open the clip art, press the Ctrl button on your keyboard and the "C" button at the same time to copy, then press the Ctrl and the "V" button at the same time to paste the image in your document.


5. Type your wedding information below the clip art. Make sure to include the date, the names of the couple, the location and any RSVP information you want to share with guests.


6. Highlight the clip art and text by choosing the select all option in the Edit menu, and press the Ctrl button on your keyboard and the "C" button at the same time to copy the information.


7. Click on the second column on your document and press the Ctrl and the "V" button at the same time to paste the information from the left side of your document to the right side as well. This gives you two invitations.


8. Determine the number of invitations you need, divide that number by two, and print that number of invitation pages.


9. Cut the invitations exactly in the center of the sheets by using a paper cutter with a ruled edge. Scissors and folding will likely leave you with a flawed edge.


10. Punch a hole on the top center of each invitation.


11. Thread 5 inches of ribbon through the hole and tie it into a bow.
