If you want to convince your former classmates that they should attend their upcoming reunion, a flyer that showcases the events that are planned can be a fantastic way to do it. A flyer that has photos of participants or the planned entertainment can convince someone who has been reluctant to attend the reunion. Creating your reunion flyer is actually a much simpler project than you might think. You will need to use a program like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP to create the flyer's design.
Instructions
1. Collect all the information (including photos) that you are considering for your reunion flyer's design. This might include photos submitted to you of classmates as they are now (or with their families), which you could use to create "then and now" photos. You can use photos to create a montage that could then be used as a central graphic on the front panel of your flyer. Using a sketchbook to sketch out your ideas for your reunion flyer can help you later when you begin designing your actual flyer in the graphics program that you choose.
2. Select a graphics program such as Adobe Photoshop or download freeware graphic design software such as GIMP. Begin by creating a new document that will become your reunion flyer's design. To do this you need to select "File" then "New" from the drop down menu. Generally speaking, depending on your intended design type, you should select a white background. If you are printing on standard flyer paper, add next the numbers for the width and height of your document into the dialog box. The resolution setting should be at least 300 pixels in order to print a quality document.
3. Employ the tools you have at your disposal in the program to create your reunion flyer's design. If you are adding photos or other graphics that are already saved on your computer, in "My Documents" for instance, then you will need to open each of these in the program and then "Copy" and "Paste" them into the main document, They will automatically be on a "New Layer" in the Layers panel. In Photoshop you will see a box in the lower right-hand corner of your program--this is the Layers panel. Create new layers to add text and other graphics you design. This will help you keep things organized and allow easier editing of your work if you want to change something.
4. Use the "Text" tool to add text to your reunion flyer. Use the "Move" tool to move your text selections and images anywhere you want them in your document.
5. Change the photos or text selections you add to your design by applying filters and other options in the program such as image adjustments. For example, you can select "FX" and then choose "Drop Shadow" to create a shadow on text or graphics you include in your flyer.
6. Purchase flyer printer paper from a retailer or office supply store and print your own flyers, or hire a professional printing service to print them for you. Most Office supply stores both carry flyer printer paper and offer a service to print as many flyers as you need.
