Create Your Own Engagement Party Invitations

Personalize engagement party invitations with photos from the engaged couple's proposal.

Engagement party invitations are a fitting place to highlight an engaged couple's personalities and love for one another. Instead of purchasing invitations for an engagement party, make your own invitations using simple paper-crafting supplies, such as cardstock and stickers, and some personal touches, such as photos, quotations that the couple enjoys, or even the couple's wedding colors. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Photo Invitations

1. Fold a medium piece of colored cardstock in half from top to bottom. This creates an invitation that will need to be flipped up for the inside to be read.

2. Glue a photo of the engaged couple to the front of the invitation. Try to use a photo from the night that the couple got engaged or a recent one of the engaged woman showing off her ring.

3. Cut a piece of cardstock in a different color than the paper used for the invitations. This will serve as a border around the photo. Simply place a photo the same size as the one used in the previous step on the paper, measure an inch of cardstock on each of the four sides of the photo, and cut according to these measurements. Then, glue the border in place around the photo.

4. Use alphabet stickers, found in the craft aisle of most stores, or a marker to write "Join Us ..." underneath the photo.

5. Use a piece of cardstock in the same color as the photo border to glue on the inside of the invitations. Write party details, such as the time, date and location, as well as RSVP information here.

6. Decorate the inside of the invitation with clip art images of engagement rings or witty or sentimental quotes about love or engagement.

Diamond Ring Invitations

7. On a piece of cardboard, draw and cut out a one-dimensional outline of a diamond ring. Make sure that the band is big enough to include party details. This will serve as the template you will use to make all of the invitations.

8. Situate the cardboard over a large piece of silver or gold cardstock. Trace the diamond ring outline onto the cardstock and cut out the invitation.

9. Cover the diamond part of the paper ring with white cardstock. If the gem in the bride-to-be's ring is something other than a diamond, use the color of her gemstone on the invitations.

10. In the band of the paper engagement ring, write the party details in black marker. Keep the wording simple so that all of the party details will fit. For example, "Beth and Jason request the pleasure of your company at their engagement party," followed by the date, time and location of the party and any RSVP contact information.

11. Tie a piece of ribbon or two around the band of the paper ring as a finishing touch. Use the couple's wedding colors, if these colors have already been decided upon.
