Create Free Birthday Invitations Online

Do you need to create free birthday invitations quickly and easily? If so, look no further than the Internet. Several websites allow you to design and print personalized birthday cards at no cost. Some free birthday-invitation websites even offer highly customizable designs with your choice of images, font and text size.

Instructions

1. Decide what is important to you in a free printable birthday card. Do you want an extremely basic birthday invitation that simply features information about the party and RSVP? Or are you interested in a printable birthday invite that allows you to customize the design and text to your unique specifications? There are several websites that offer free printable birthday cards, and each site has its own unique software. (See Resources.) Before deciding which site best suits your needs, try viewing several to get a solid feel for the various options.

2. Stock up on computer paper and cardstock (in white or off-white). The cardstock is best suited to the invitations themselves, while the lighter-weight computer paper is flexible enough to make envelopes. Both the paper and cardstock should be the standard 8-1/2-by-11-inch size so it will easily fit into your printer. Both computer paper and cardstock are available at any office-supply store. You will also need a glue stick for assembling the envelopes.

3. Visit the website you would like to use and carefully follow the instructions for designing your birthday invitation. Invitation design is step-by-step process that allows you to experiment with various combinations before settling on a look that appeals to you. You choose the design, colors, font, text style and formatting. When adding your copy text, be sure to include the time, date and location of the party, as well as a method to RSVP and your contact information. When you've completed your card, a preview is available that will depict how it will look. If there are any changes or edits to be made, simply return to the previous screens to alter the invitation. When the final draft of the card has been created, print it on your cardstock and use the computer paper for the envelopes.

4. Once you've printed the birthday invitations and envelopes, set them aside for about 3 to 5 minutes to allow the printer ink to fully dry. This will prevent you from accidentally smudging the cards. When you're ready to get started, simply fold the cards per the instructions on the website. When you're done with the cards, prepare the envelopes, too. After gluing the envelopes into place, let them dry for about 30 minutes.

5. If the birthday invitations are for a child's party, you may want to add a personal touch via decorative elements like a touch of glitter, tiny googly eyes, or paper-punched confetti. This is a fun aspect of your birthday invitations that your child can work on with you.

When the invitations are finished, put them in envelopes and distribute them to all of the people on your guest list.
