Celebrate A Holiday Birthday

Keep birthdays that fall on the holidays as special as possible!

My birthday falls on the day after New Year's. January 2 has to be one of the most miserable times of year to celebrate a life. The holiday season is over--and any notion of another party or get-together is beyond most people's comprehension. However, it is still my birthday--just like anyone born on December 25 or January 1. One of the most annoying things about a "holiday" birthday is the usual attempt to role everything into one big gift or celebration--and that's why people with birthdays around the holidays often feel looked over. Here are a few tips to help someone have a happy birthday--even if it's during the holiday season. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Never place a birthday gift under a Christmas tree or present it as a Chanukah gift. Keep the gifts special and distinct.

2. Never use holiday paper to wrap the gift.

3. Always try to arrange, if that is to the person's liking, a special dinner or gathering that is not connected with the holiday.

4. For the most part, keep it simple. The gesture of simply doing something special that is NOT lumped in with the holidays is the best part of any gift you can give.
