Celebrate A 60th Birthday

A 60th birthday is a milestone to share with family and friends. As your loved one's big day approaches, celebrate with a gathering that looks back on her life and also anticipates the future. Consider these ideas to pay tribute to the guest of honor. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Create a slide show of images to celebrate the guest of honor's life. Ask family and friends if you need help gathering heritage photos of her grandparents, parents or images from her childhood. Use simple software or an online service to combine the pictures with captions and a soundtrack to watch on DVD. (See Resources)

2. Invite surprise guests such as a sibling from out of state, a grandchild that the guest of honor doesn't get to see much or a long-lost childhood friend.

3. Take the birthday honoree somewhere she's been eager to visit. It doesn't have to be an expensive vacation. It can be something as simple as a tour of a local winery, a day at an amusement park that she hasn't visited since she was a child or a trip to the house where she grew up.

4. Work with family and friends to compile 60 birthday messages for the guest of honor to read. Have people write about a fond memory they have of him, a lesson she taught them, something he must do to celebrate, an embarrassing moment, an inside joke, an inspirational message or a wish for the future. Stash the slips of paper in a beautiful basket, box or decorated jar as a keepsake.

5. Videotape any birthday celebrations, along with interviews of family and friends about the guest of honor to show at the celebration for her 70th birthday.
